Dr. Jamal “Jamie” Hasoon earned an undergraduate degree in medical humanities at Baylor University in Waco and his medical degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He then completed a fellowship in interventional pain management in Boston at Harvard Medical School-Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he was named Outstanding Pain Fellow of the Year. Dr. Hasoon, who has been in practice since 2015, is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain management. His special clinical interests are minimally invasive therapies for spinal stenosis, compression fractures, peripheral nerve stimulation and spinal cord stimulation. His practice philosophy centers on a personalized and multidisciplinary approach to pain management that reduces his patients’ level of pain while improving their quality of life. Patients describe him as a professional and caring physician who listens, doesn’t rush them through appointments and explains conditions and answers questions in understandable terms. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Hasoon has published extensively in peer-reviewed medical journals on topics, including migraine headaches, pelvic pain, low back pain, peripheral nerve stimulation and spinal cord stimulation therapy. He is director of the pain fellowship program at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Hasoon is a member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, North American Neuromodulation Society, American Society of Anesthesiology and Texas Society of Anesthesiology.
