Dr. Monica Nichols is a California native and board-certified psychiatrist. Dr. Nichols provides psychiatric services to individuals who are aged five and up. Clinical interests and specialization includes child and adolescent psychiatry, cognitive behavioral therapy, mood disorders (depression and bipolar), anxiety disorders and psychotic disorders (schizophrenia and schizoaffective). Dr. Nichols prefers to take a holistic approach to treatment. She does not see medication as the complete answer to mental health issues, but as a piece of the puzzle. Dr. Nichols also seeks to address behavioral issues that are affecting her patients' mental health.During her education and training, she found mental and behavioral health issues more interesting and fulfilling to treat, as they have such an impact on quality of life. She likes the challenge of seeing each patient as an individual, as every patient with the same diagnosis has a different story and set of circumstances. Dr. Nichols enjoys theater and loves to travel. In addition to visiting 25 different states and over 15 different countries, Dr. Nichols has worked in various settings including community clinics, private practice, jails and prisons.
