Dr. Nisha Sankaran

Dr. Nisha Sankaran is an expert in neuroradiology and comes to Johns Hopkins from Northern Virginia Radiology Consultants, where she spent the last two years as a private practice diagnostic radiologist specializing in neuroradiology. She earned her medical degree from Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University. She completed her diagnostic radiology residency at University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she served as chief resident for two years and was involved in various leadership and quality assurance committees. She completed her neuroradiology fellowship training at Johns Hopkins University. She was one of 10 residents/fellows to receive the Radiology Leadership Institute (RLI) Scholarship Award in 2018. She is an active member of the ACR RLI ‘Resident and Young Physicians Leadership Summit’ Planning Committee. Dr. Sankaran has interests in stroke imaging, spine imaging, brain tumor imaging, and traumatic injuries of the brain and spine. She has published multiple journal articles on spine and stroke related imaging.

Her clinical expertise encompasses Cerebellar Multiple System Atrophy, Hepatocerebral Degeneration, Subependymoma, and Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation.

Dr. Sankaran is board certified in American Board Of Radiology. She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 4 peer reviewed articles.
