Kenneth Noonan, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric orthopedic surgeon. He’s also a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation.Dr. Noonan diagnoses and treats children with problems that affect the bones, muscles and joints any. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She diagnoses and treats conditions affecting the bones, muscles, tendons and joints. Dr. Shih cares for patients ranging from infants to teens and young adults.Dr Shih’s specialties include neuromuscular (nerve and muscle) medicine and treating patients with disabilities and developmental delays. She helps patients with cerebral palsy and disorders affecting movement and function. She talks to patients at their age level, from toddlers to teens, and listens to their concerns, making sure they understand what to expect at each stage of care.Dr. Shih evaluates patient conditions to determine whether surgery can help. She develops plans that fit their interests and lives. Before and after treatment, she works with specialized teams. These can include physical therapists, neurologists and physical medicine and rehabilitation experts.In addition to patient care, Dr. Shih conducts orthopedic trauma research. She studies complex shin bone fractures and related risks and complications. She also studies neurosurgical (brain, spine and nervous system) and orthopedic treatments for children with cerebral palsy.Outside of work, Dr. Shih loves hiking, biking and enjoying the sun, sky and natural landscapes.One of the most rewarding moments is seeing a child stand and walk without pain — prouder and better than they did before. Blaise Nemeth, MD, MS, is a UW Health Kids pediatric orthopedist and an associate professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He cares for children of all ages, from birth through young adulthood, with musculoskeletal conditions affecting the arms, legs, feet, back and hips.Dr. Nemeth is one of the first nonsurgical pediatric orthopedists in the country. He has a special clinical interest in children with special health care needs. He helps correct issues such as toe walking (heels don’t touch the ground), in toeing (feet turn inward while walking), clubfoot (feet point down and turn in) and other walking abnormalities, while coordinating care with other specialists to enhance overall health and quality of life.He also works in the community to develop adaptive youth sports opportunities. His goal is to help all children be as active as possible.Dr. Nemeth believes in involving patients and their families in the decision-making process. He listens to learn about patients’ goals to personalize their treatment plans. He also has ongoing conversations with patients to adjust their care as they age.Outside of work, Dr. Nemeth enjoys being outdoors, cross-country skiing and cooking.Seeing my pediatric patients grow up makes me smile every day.
