Dr. Phyo Kyaw

As a pulmonologist and Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Kyaw’s practice encompasses COPD, asthma, lung nodule, restrictive lung disease and respiratory failure, among other conditions. She has been in practice since 2009 and now treats adults at Saint Joseph Medical Group – Pulmonology.Dr. Kyaw’s approach to patient care is individualized, and when asked about her patient care philosophy, she said, “I want to help the world breathe.” Compassionate listening and respect are the ways she shows humankindness when working with patients. “I want to deliver health care compassionately, safely and consistently,” she said. She strives to create a supportive, family-like environment with strong teamwork.Dr. Kyaw’s honors include the 2013 Award of Excellence Education from the Myanmar American Medical Education Society, Inc.; 2018 cardiovascular case report winner from the Southern Regional Meeting in New Orleans; two scholarships in 2019 from the American Thoracic Society; and winner of the 2019 CHEST Foundation Diversity Travel Grant.Dr. Kyaw received her medical education at the University of Medicine 2 in Myanmar (formerly Burma), with a postgraduate fellowship in pulmonary and critical care from Southern Illinois University and an internal medicine residency at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Outside of her work, her interests include practicing mindfulness, yoga and meditation.
