A native Houstonian, Dr. Richard “Rick” Nixon is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. He received his medical degree and completed his internship training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He went to Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas, for his residency in orthopedic surgery and returned to Baylor College of Medicine for a fellowship in sports medicine and surgery of the knee and shoulder. Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Nixon has practiced in Texas since 1991.His clinical interests are sports medicine and minimally invasive knee, hip and shoulder surgery. He is one of two Houston surgeons who perform the patented Quad-sparing technique for total knee replacement. Dr. Nixon provides compassionate care; treating his patients, from children to adults, as if they were family. Taking a conservative approach to treatment, Dr. Nixon spends as much time as needed with his patients and believes in keeping each patient well informed as to their condition, prognosis and available options. At Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, Dr. Nixon has served as chief of staff and currently serves as medical director of the hospital’s surgical services. He was named Memorial Hermann Northwest Physician of the Year in 1999. Dr. Nixon serves as a team physician for several public and private schools and volunteers as the pitching coach for the Northland Christian High School baseball team. He and his wife have two adult sons and live in northwest Harris County. Dr. Nixon is a private pilot and enjoys playing golf, hunting and fishing.

Dr. Eric Klineberg received his undergraduate degree from Rice University and then a master’s degree in zoology and neural networks at the University of Maryland, before earning his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Washington Medical System in Seattle then a combined neurosurgery and orthopedic surgical spine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. Dr. Klineberg is board certified in orthopedic surgery. His primary clinical interests include spinal degeneration, deformity, tumor and fracture; adult and pediatric spinal deformity surgery; and cervical compression and deformity. Dr. Klineberg is committed to excellence in surgical care with an emphasis on communication, compassion and empathy. He strives to treat each patient as he would like himself or a family member to be treated. A professor and vice chair in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Dr. Klineberg serves as Chief of Orthopedic Spine Surgery and holds the Milton “Chip” Routt Endowed Chair of Spinal Surgery. His research, teaching and clinical activity have earned Dr. Klineberg an international reputation in spinal deformity surgery. Author of over then 300 publications and book chapters, he also edited Adult Lumbar Scoliosis, A Clinical Guide to Diagnosis and Management and is a principal or co-principal investigator for more than a half-dozen clinical studies. His major research interests are enhancement of spinal fusion with stem cells and proteins and spinal deformity and outcomes. He serves on the board of directors of the Scoliosis Research Society and on the executive committee of the International Spine Study Group. He is also the North American Chair of AO Spine, a global academic community that promotes excellence in education, research, patient care and outcomes.
