Dr. Torres is a nationally recognized neurotrauma and neurocritical expert often called to moderate neurosurgical scientific sessions, working closely with industry in advancing new technology. He believes that the future is built, based on past experience. He is one of a handful of triple fellowship trained, Board certified Neurosurgeons in the state of Florida. His fellowships are in Neuro-oncology (Brain And Spine tumors), Complex spine including minimally, endoscopic spine and Robotic Spine Surgery and Neuropathology.
Dr. Torres was born in Peru and came to this country as a child. Educated both abroad and at The University of Chicago and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Followed by residency in Neuropathology and General surgery internship all at Columbia University. He then followed with prestigious fellowships in Neurosurgical oncology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)and Complex Spine at the University of California Los Angeles(UCLA). Dr. Torres has been in Academic Neurosurgery for most of his career as an Assistant then as an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Stanford University Medical Center in California for many years. Later moving to Florida where, he was an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and then the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. He left academics after 30 years, moving to Orlando to start a boutique Neurosurgical practice.
His clinical expertise encompasses Chronic Subdural Hematoma, Subdural Hematoma, Dysembryoplastic Neuroepithelial Tumors (DNET), Posterior Fossa Tumor, and Awake Craniotomy.
Dr. Torres is board certified in American Board Of Neurological Surgery. He is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 1 peer reviewed article and participating in 1 clinical trial. Dr. Torres is currently accepting new patients.
