Dr. Santosh Nagaraju

Dr. Daniel Judge is a professor of medicine in cardiology at MUSC. He received his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania, and did his post-graduate training in internal medicine, cardiology, and advanced heart failure/transplant cardiology at Johns Hopkins. He is board-certified in both cardiology and advanced heart failure/transplant cardiology.Dr. Judge takes care of adult patients with inherited forms of cardiovascular disease, as well as congestive heart failure. As director of the cardiovascular genetics program, Dr. Judge has extensive experience caring for individuals and families with inherited forms of cardiomyopathy, aortic aneurysm, amyloidosis, and cardiac involvement from other genetic conditions.He has authored more than 150 scientific manuscripts. He also established and directs the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Fellowship Program at MUSC. Dr. Tedford is an internationally recognized clinical researcher and has published over 200 peer-reviewed original research manuscripts, invited expert reviews, editorials and book chapters. His research efforts are focused on hemodynamic assessment of right ventricle function and its interaction with the pulmonary circulation and left heart. This research spans the fields of pulmonary hypertension, left heart disease, exercise physiology, hemodynamics, systemic sclerosis and mechanical circulatory support. He participates on several scientific advisory boards, clinical trial steering committees, and serves as a hemodynamic core laboratory for clinical pharmaceutical trials. He is co-chair of the PH due to left heart disease task force for 7^th^ World Symposium on Pulmonary Hypertension. He is a deputy editor for the *Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation* and serves on the editorial board for *Circulation: Heart Failure CHEST*and *JACC: Heart* *Failure.*. At MUSC Health, he is the Surgical Director of the Kidney Transplant Program and the Director of Hepatology, Nephrology, and Transplant ICCE Quality and Innovation.Dr. Scalea's research interests focus on improving outcomes and access to care for patients needing life-saving transplantation and researching strategies to achieve immune tolerance in allogeneic solid organ transplantation. He received international notoriety in 2019 for pioneering drones for organ transplants. As the inaugural Vice Chair of Surgery for Innovation, Dr. Scalea will expand his experience in clinical medicine, academic leadership, commercialization, and innovation to help translate innovative ideas from the laboratory to industry.Dr. Scalea received his medical degree and surgical training from the University of Maryland and completed his transplant fellowship at the University of Wisconsin and his post-doctoral fellowship at the Harvard Medical School, Transplantation Biology Research Center.When not in the clinic or laboratory, Dr. Scalea enjoys painting and performing music.
