She then completed a thoracic surgery fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, followed by an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Colorado. At Colorado, she led surgical education initiatives, contributed to enhanced recovery programs and was actively involved in clinical research related to thoracic oncology and esophageal surgery.She has authored several peer-reviewed publications, contributed to national surgical textbooks and remains active in national surgical societies.
