Steven M. Cohen, MD, is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon and partner at Retina-Vitreous Associates of Florida, where he has cared for patients with retinal and vitreous diseases since 1997. He completed both medical retina and surgical retina fellowships at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute after graduating from Harvard Medical School and completing ophthalmology residency at the University of California, Davis.
Dr. Cohen has extensive experience in the diagnosis and surgical management of complex retinal disease, including retinal detachment, macular disease, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disorders, uveitis, and age-related macular degeneration. He is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida and has been involved in resident education for more than three decades.
Dr. Cohen has participated in numerous retina clinical trials involving age-related macular degeneration, geographic atrophy, diabetic macular edema, retinal vein occlusion, uveitis, gene therapy, sustained-delivery systems, and intravitreal implants. He is also the founder of RetinaUniversity.com and RetinaGallery.com, educational resources for ophthalmology trainees and physicians.
He has been recognized by Best Doctors in America and Castle Connolly Top Doctor and has received the David D. Donaldson Clinical Faculty Teaching Award from the University of South Florida.
