Dr. Stephen S. Kim

Dr. Stephen Kim is the Medical Director of Children’s Surgery at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus and Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital and Chief of Pediatric Surgical Specialties for Inova. He is a specialty care physician board certified in pediatric surgery and general surgery with advanced expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. His clinical interests include surgery for newborn congenital diseases, cancer surgery, colorectal surgery and thoracic surgery. Dr. Kim is a graduate of the University of Virginia College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Chicago, where he served as chief resident. He completed a surgical research fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard.

His clinical expertise encompasses Retroperitoneal Inflammation, Gastroschisis, and Infantile Pyloric Stenosis.

He is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 3 peer reviewed articles.
