Dr. Taryll Jenkins

After Dr. Taryll Jenkins graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) with his undergraduate degree in Baton Rouge, he went on to earn his medical degree at Meharry Medical College’s School of Medicine in Nashville. He then moved to Houston and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Jenkins has practiced medicine since 1996. His clinical interests include obstetrics, gynecology and urology. In 2002, Dr. Jenkins began providing care in obstetrics and gynecology at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and McGovern Medical School. Dr. Jenkins provides personal and quality care for women in all phases of life. His goal is not only to provide state-of-the-art care and procedures, but also to ensure that each patient feels comfortable in discussing any issue with him. Throughout his education, Dr. Jenkins received numerous honors and awards. During his time at Meharry, he was inducted in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society; was honored withthe Meharry Medical Student Research Fellowship and the Sue Minter Memorial Scholarship Award; achieved Academic Honors in pathology, physical diagnosis, behavioral science, pharmacology, epidemiology, biostatistics, histology and introduction to clinical medicine. At Meharry, he was included on the Dean’s List andwas awarded the Tuition Exemption Scholarship at LSU. Eager to give back to his community, Dr. Jenkins volunteered medical services for victims of Hurricane Katrina at the George R. Brown Convention Center, and served as a volunteer assistant baseball coach at West Charlotte Park in Nashville, where he instructed teens in the fundamentals of competitive baseball. His passion for helping kids in his Nashville community also led him to volunteer with Our Kids Center’s annual fundraiser, which aids children who have been victims of abuse, and he read to children at Meharry Day Care Center. He also supported his school community as a member of the Meharry yearbook staff, a Meharry Big Brother/Big Sister Program advisor to first- and second-year medical students, and an academic assistant, tutoring first- and second- year medical and dental students in microbiology, pathology, histology and neuroscience. A Katy resident, Dr. Jenkins enjoys weightlifting, golf, running and spending time with his wife when he’s away from his office.
