Dr. Trong Van Le
Overview
I was born in Vietnam and raised in the United States. Following my undergraduate study, I postponed my dream of becoming a physician to serve as a missionary. As it turned out, that was my initial bedside training. Later, my allergy training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital led to a realization that caring for children with allergies would be my life’s work. I find working with children rewarding and refreshing. It’s impossible not to care and be inspired by their resiliency when they are sick and their capacity for healing. I love taking care of children with allergies, especially food allergies and eczema. So it’s natural that I have become quite interested in researching these conditions. My true satisfaction comes from learning and sharing knowledge with parents and our residents about how to improve the quality of life of children with allergies. It gives me a sense of satisfaction and purpose to be connected with the people around me — co-workers and parents — as we work together to build strong care teams. The more everybody cooperates to help make things better for a sick child, the better the healing process. In my mind, caring for children is all about a team effort.
