
Overview
Dr. Whiteside is Associate Director of Pediatric Interventional Cardiology at the University of Michigan Congenital Heart Center. As an interventional cardiologist, she performs minimally invasive diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures on infants, children, and adults with congenital heart disease.Dr. Whiteside received her undergraduate degree in biology from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002. She went on to receive her MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in 2006 and completed her general pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland in Oakland, CA in 2009. Prior to beginning cardiology fellowship, she was a Clinical Instructor in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. She then completed her general pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Michigan Congenital Heart Center in Ann Arbor, MI in 2013. She remained at the University of Michigan as a Clinical Instructor to complete fellowship training as a pediatric interventional cardiologist. After spending 3 years as an Interventional Cardiologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Dr. Whiteside returned to the University of Michigan Congenital Heart Center as faculty in 2017 where she is an Interventional Cardiologist in the Congenital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and attends on the general cardiology/surgical service. Dr. Whiteside’s clinical and research interests include quality improvement in the catheterization lab and across the Congenital Heart Center, and complex transcatheter procedures including pulmonary valve replacement in children and adults, interventions on small neonates including PDA occlusion and outflow tract stenting, and hybrid and fetal interventions.

Dr. Zampi then completed his fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at the University of Michigan, which he followed with an additional year of subspecialty training in interventional pediatric cardiology. In addition, Dr. Zampi has taken a lead role in quality improvement efforts within the cardiac catheterization laboratory and is involved in several national data registries to improve the care of patients who undergo cardiac catheterization procedures within the Congenital Heart Center.
