Dr. William Stewart

Houston native Dr. Colby Stewart earned his medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. He completed the ophthalmology residency program and a fellowship in oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Stewart, who is board certified in ophthalmology, has been in practice since 1996 and practicing in Houston since 2003. His primary clinical interests are oculoplastic procedures, topical anesthetic cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, multi-focal implants and LASIK refractive surgery. He has pioneered several innovations in LASIK surgery and intraocular lens implantation to eliminate corneal astigmatism. He also was one of the first surgeons to perform topical anesthetic cataract surgery rather than the usual retrobulbar block, which uses a needle. Dr. Stewart is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, International Society of Refractive Surgery and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He frequently gives continuing education seminars for eye care professionals and works with local eye doctors and optometrists to co-manage surgical patients. Dr. Stewart is married and the father of five children. Among his favorite leisure activities are deep-sea fishing, hunting, photography and traveling with his family and friends.
