Therefore, I think it is critical that we transplant physicians make it a priority to thoroughly and clearly communicate with our patients about all aspects of transplantation and to do our best to explain the complex medical considerations frequently underlying our decisions on what to do for our transplant recipients. I chose to pursue transplant medicine as a career because I see how receiving an organ transplantation can be such a life-changing event for our patients, and at the same time how much more can still be done to make this therapy more streamlined and less complicated for our patients in need.
