Overview
After earning his medical degree from the Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in China, Dr. Guo completed an ophthalmology residency at the Boston University School of Medicine. He completed a pediatric neurology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Guo is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Guo provides comprehensive eye care that includes diabetic eye exams, evaluations for cataracts and glaucoma, and follow-up care after failed school vision screenings. He performs manual and laser-assisted cataract surgeries, using the PanOptix trifocal intraocular lens as an option in cataract surgery, which allows for near, intermediate and far vision, and the Toric lens which reduces astigmatism for those with cataracts. Dr. Guo also performs laser procedures and surgeries including iStent and shunt device implantation for patients with glaucoma. He offers eyelid and brow surgeries for patients with superior visual field defects due to droopy eyelids or brow ptosis. Dr. Guo’s goal is to improve vision for all of his patients. Originally from Southern China, Dr. Guo is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka. Today he enjoys the variety of historical, cultural and recreational activities in Hampton Roads. A triathlete who enjoys running, swimming and biking, Dr. Guo finished his first Ironman race in 2017. Dr. Guo and his wife have two sons and a daughter.
