Overview
Dr. Robert L. Waltrip is an orthopaedic surgeon who is certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, with a subspecialty certification in orthopaedic sports medicine. Dr. Waltrip earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at UPMC. He also completed a sports medicine and shoulder fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute. Dr. Waltrip’s practice focuses on shoulder and knee surgery and he also performs computer-guided shoulder joint replacement surgery. He is a clinical instructor in the orthopedic surgery department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Pennsylvania Medical Society, Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, and the Allegheny County Medical Society. Dr. Waltrip served on a national committee organized by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons which evaluated clinical guidelines for rotator cuff repair.
