Dr. Sushmita B. Gordhandas

Dr. Samuel Denmeade is the R. Dale Hughes Professor of Oncology and Urology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Director of the Genitourinary Oncology Division for the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. He also has appointments in the Department of Pharmacology and Molecular Sciences and Department of Biomolecular Engineering. His areas of clinical expertise include bladder cancer, kidney cancer, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Dr. Denmeade earned his M.D. from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. He completed his residency at the University of Chicago. He performed a fellowship in oncology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and a fellowship in medical oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His research interests include prostate cancer, bipolar androgen therapy, clinical trials and targeted drug development. Dr. Denmeade has published over 200 papers in the area of prostate cancer research. He has received extensive funding from the NIH, the Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Fund and the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Dr. Markowski earned his medical degree and Ph.D. in tumor biology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Columbia University, followed by a medical oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Markowski previously served as a research associate at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University. His research interests focus on early phase drug development for prostate cancer, as well a non-castrating therapies for patients with metastatic disease. Dr. Markowski is currently conducting research with funding from a Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program Award and a Challenge Award from the Prostate Cancer Foundation, which focuses on new treatment strategies for prostate cancer patients.
