Dr. Miars is originally from Grapevine, TX and joined Southwest Sports Medicine / Baylor Scott & White Health in January of 2007. Upon graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in Human Nutrition in 1994, Dr. Miars completed medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. He then pursued his sports medicine education at Michigan State University where he completed residency in 2001 and a Sports Medicine Fellowship in 2002. Dr. Miars is certified by the Alliance for Physician Certification & Advancement for Musculoskeletal Sonography. A major component of Dr. Miars’ practice today involves the use of ultrasound to aid in diagnosis as well as to direct minimally invasive interventions for sports injuries and orthopedic conditions. Minimally invasive ultrasound guided interventions include injections, orthopedic biologics (e.g., platelet rich plasma) and percutaneous tenotomy utilizing the Tenex device. As a MSKUS specialist, he has also been involved in training other physicians on the use of MSKUS at local, regional and national meetings. With 20 years of experience as a sports medicine physician, Dr. Miars takes care of athletes of all ages, from youth through weekend warrior.  He has served as a collegiate team physician for over 15 years at universities including Baylor, Texas A&M and Michigan State.  He currently serves as Baylor Athletics, Team Consultant for complex medical cases and as a MSKUS specialist.  In addition to his role as team physician at Midway High, he has served as the medical director for multiple mass sporting events including Xterra Waco, TriWaco, The Bearathon, IronMan 70.3 Waco and the Silo District Marathon. He and his wife Meredith have 4 daughters and are active members at Harris Creek Church. Dr. Miars has been involved in athletics throughout his life, from youth / high school sports to later founding the Waco Triathlon Club and completing IronMan Texas. He is passionate about sharing his love of sports by helping athletes return to their sport / active lifestyle. His top areas of expertise are Tendinitis and Bursitis.

Dr. Boone, a primary care sports medicine specialist, earned his medical degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX, before completing his residency in Family Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. Dr. Boone continued his training with a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Trinity Mother Frances/The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler.Dr. Boone is Board-Certified in Sports Medicine and in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.Dr. Boone and his wife, Stephanie, have two children, and he enjoys hunting and spending time with his family.A native of Stephenville, Texas, Dr. Boone received his undergraduate degree from Hardin-Simmons University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. He also was a member of the three-time American Southwest Conference champion football team at Hardin-Simmons, serving as a team captain his senior year. His top areas of expertise are Tendinitis and Bursitis.

A native of Marshall, Texas, Dr. Haynes  received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in 1994. After graduation from Baylor he received his medical degree with honors from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Haynes continued his training at the University of Tennessee/Campbell Clinic orthopaedic surgery residency program. The Campbell Clinic staff, in cooperation with the Campbell Foundation,  author the internationally recognized orthopaedic text, Campbell’s Operative Orthopaedics. Dr. Haynes continued his sub specialty training in sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. While in Cleveland his sports medicine experience included team physician duties for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers and John Carroll University. Since returning to Waco in 2005, Dr. Haynes has participated in multiple professional leadership roles. He is the past president of the Texas Orthopaedic Association and the Texas Society of Sports Medicine. He has served as Chief of staff and chairman of the department of surgery at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Hillcrest. Dr. Haynes is passionate about caring for athletes and has been a team physician for Baylor University for over 15 years. He is the former Chief Medical Officer and the current Director of Orthopaedic Surgery for Baylor University Athletics. His top areas of expertise are Osteoarthritis, Tendinitis, Bursitis, and Frozen Shoulder.
