A native of Elizabethton, I graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1984 and completed my undergraduate studies at Southern Missionary College in 1988. After receiving my medical education from East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine and graduating in 1992, I completed my OB/GYN specialty training at the University of Tennessee while serving at Baroness Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. I was encouraged by strong family ties to the Tri-Cities area where my father, mother, brother and sister practiced in various fields of medicine. Because I value my close relationships with God and family, I returned home to start my own practice in 1996. Since that time, I have been blessed with three wonderful children. There have been many challenges, rewards and miracles as a parent that have made me stronger and – in some ways – made me the physician I am today. As each child I deliver is born, I pause to reflect on what lives the little one will impact. I provide care from adolescence to geriatrics, as well as those needing specialized care. I enjoy providing reproductive healthcare services and never take for granted my role in bringing new lives into the world. I specialize in performing minimally invasive surgical procedures. I have pursued this specialty by promoting the role of advanced laparoscopic techniques and expanded my traditional laparoscopic skills to include the provision of da Vinci® robotic surgery and single-port techniques, as well as pelvic support procedures.
