Dr. Carlos Picone served as Vice-Chair, Department of Internal Medicine at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. and Chairman of the Pulmonary Medicine Division. Dr. Picone received his medical degree from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina in 1989, graduating summa cum laude. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia, and Fellowships in Critical Care Medicine at the National Institutes of Health and in Pulmonary Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Picone has authored articles on pulmonary arterial hypertension and treatment, bioethics, end-of-life decision-making and parenchymal lung diseases. He has been a Medical Volunteer in several Latin American countries and currently volunteers with Mobile Medical Clinics of Greater Washington, D.C., where he serves at its Executive Board with the mission of providing free medical care to the underserved community of Washington. Dr. Picone also serves as a Board Member of Operation Canasta, supporting schools and orphanages in Argentina's hinterland. Dr. Picone is a partner in private practice with Chevy Chase Pulmonary Associates. His major professional interests include: Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension - Pathophysiology and Treatment.
