I was one of the first two fellowship trained North Carolina shoulder specialists when I began my practice at Duke in 1992. My career over the past 23 years has focused on shoulder care and shoulder surgery. My practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with all types of shoulder pain. All available resources are considered in improving the patient's symptoms and function without having to operate. I grew up in Durham and I am extremely proud to work here at Duke. All of my family members still call the Bull City home. Most of my education was completed in Durham, except for four years I spent down the road in Chapel Hill. I played football there and developed an interest in orthopaedic surgery that led me home. I am an adult reconstruction surgeon here at Duke. I completed graduate school and residency training at Wake Forest University, followed by a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Duke. My choice to pursue a career in adult reconstruction was based on my passion for patient outcomes.
