Subhasis Chatterjee, M.D. is an assistant professor of surgery on the Surgical Critical Care team at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. Dr. Chatterjee was selected to the Medical Scholars Program at the University of Wisconsin, earning both his undergraduate and medical degrees in addition to being selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his general surgery training at the University of Pennsylvania and his cardiothoracic surgical training at New York Presbyterian Cornell & Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. After being in private practice in Illinois and Wisconsin he completed a fellowship in critical care at the Mayo Clinic Rochester. His clinical focus is in the critical care of cardiothoracic surgical patients with a perspective as both a cardiothoracic surgeon and intensivist. He is dedicated to excellent patient outcomes and multidisciplinary collaboration. His basic science areas of investigation included an NIH-sponsored grant for gene therapy in ischemia-reperfusion injury after myocardial infarction. He has participated and served as an investigator in a number of clinical trials. His clinical focus in research is in mechanical circulatory support, resource utilization, and critical care scoring systems for the care of cardiothoracic surgical patients.
