He worked his way through graduate school as a carpenter and earned a master�s degree in Physiology from Benedictine University. He attended medical school at Midwestern University�s Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where he received a Doctor of Osteopathy.He pursued a career in spine surgery after his brother had a serious neck injury that nearly left him paralyzed. Dr. Possley was deployed to Bastion Hospital at Camp Leatherneck in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Following his combat experience, Dr. Possley continued his work as an active duty orthopedic surgeon at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, Texas. During his military service, he fulfilled the roles of Resident Education Director at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center; Adjunct Faculty for the Interservice Physician Assistant Graduate Program and Academy of Health Sciences U.S. Army Medical Department Center; Assistant Professor of Surgery at the F. Edward Howard School of Medicine; and as a Consultant to the United States Army Office of the Surgeon General Telemedicine Teleconsultation Program.His wartime experience pushed him to continue his training, and he completed a spine surgery fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Board certified, Dr. Possley is a member of many prestigious medical societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons.He now lives in Louisville, Colorado, with his wife, a fellow physician and Colorado native, and their three children.
