Dr. Gavin Smith

Philip Yearian, DPM, is a board-certified surgeon specializing in the lower extremity treatment of the foot and ankle. He believes that staying on the forefront of treatment involves educating his patients, which leads to better outcomes.While competing as a Division I Track and Field athlete in the 3000 meters Steeplechase and Cross Country at the University of Portland, his own injuries introduced him to some of the very treatments he uses today to get patients back on their way to a non-painful walk or ultra-marathon.His training involved specializing in both bone and plastic reconstructive surgery. After over twenty years in practice in Gig Harbor and Tacoma, Dr. Yearian has improved some of these very techniques, which now allow some patients to shorten their recovery and return to play or work sooner.Dr. Yearian coaches basketball at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School. He also enjoys running marathons, skiing, traveling and teaching for the Franciscan Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Residency program. Rex Z. Nilson, DPM, has been practicing podiatric medicine and surgery in the Seattle area since 1984. He is also a 33-year board member and Treasurer of the International Foot & Ankle Foundation and was named podiatric physician of the year in 2018 by the Washington State Podiatric Medical Association.Dr. Nilson lives in the greater Seattle area with his wife, Torri, who is a journalist and a teacher. Zach Laidley, DPM, completed his training at one of the nation's top podiatric residency programs and is Foot and Ankle Surgery Board Qualified. He served as chief resident at the Swedish Podiatric Medicine and Surgery with Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery in Seattle. This rigorous and comprehensive program is considered one of the elite foot and ankle surgery programs in the United States, with direct training from some of the top podiatric and orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons in the Seattle area. His training encompassed all aspects of foot and ankle pathology and surgery, including forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction, total ankle replacements, ankle arthroscopy, sports medicine, trauma and limb salvage. Dr. Laidley is originally from the St. Louis area and obtained his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 2019 from Scholl College at Rosalind Franklin University, where he graduated at the top of his class. Dr. Laidley is committed to the advancement of foot and ankle surgery and serves on the residency training committee at the Swedish Podiatric Residency Program.Dr. Laidley, his wife, and their dog live in Seattle.
