During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City, Dr. Gongora took care of critically ill COVID-19 patients with cardiac comorbidities in the Cardiac Care Unit. He participated in international conferences to discuss the latest observations, advances and therapies in hospitalized patients with COVID-19. He lastly finished an Advanced Cardiac Imaging and Cardio-Oncology Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Also he completed courses in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health. While in Boston, Dr. Gongora has been involved in projects focusing on cardiotoxicity associated with immune therapies and anthracyclines among patients with cancer. Additionally, he has worked on projects focusing on medical therapy for patients with COVID-19 and their cardiac involvement.
