Dr. Krishnamurty V. Tummalapalli
Overview
Krishna V. Tummalapalli, MD, is an interventional cardiologist with more than three decades of experience. In the early 1990s, he performed the first coronary artery stent procedure among all Pittsburgh-area hospitals. He developed an expertise in transradial catheterization early on and teaches this technique to other physicians. He is course director of the Annual Advanced Transradial and Complex Cardiac Interventions Symposium. Dr. Tummalapalli completed his residency in internal medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. He then completed his fellowship in cardiology at UPMC Shadyside. He is board-certified in internal medicine, general cardiology, and three times in interventional cardiology (1999, 2010, and 2019). He has served as an associate director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program and as co-director of the Department of Echo Cardiology at UPMC Shadyside. He received special recognition/achievement awards in 2009 and in 2019. Dr. Tummalapalli is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI).
