Her clinical expertise includes endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), transoral outlet reduction (TORe) for weight regain after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, and revisional endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty after sleeve gastrectomy.Dr. Tavakkoli is also active in clinical research with a focus on disparities in gastrointestinal malignancies, quality improvement of ERCP, and outcomes after ESG and TORe.She is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, where she also serves as a committee member. In addition, she is an ad-hoc reviewer for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Gastroenterology, and VideoGIE.
