Dr. Martin Joyce

Dr. Gerald Lawrence Weinhouse is the medical director of Respiratory Care Services and a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). He is also an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School .He received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now part of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences). He then completed a residency in internal medicine at Boston City Hospital (now Boston Medical Center), followed by fellowships in pulmonary disease at Boston University Medical Center (now Boston Medical Center) and University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (now the Perelman School of Medicine ). Thereafter, he was recruited to The University of South Florida/Tampa General Hospital Advanced Organ Institute and served as the Medical Director of the ECMO program prior to joining Brigham and Women's Hospital.  He is board certified in critical care medicine, internal medicine and pulmonary disease.Dr. Sharma's clinical and research interests are in lung transplantation and extracorporeal life support technologies.  His  basic/translational research program is focused on understanding the mechanisms involved in transplantation rejection and development of novel therapeutics to treat and/or prevent rejection.
