Overview
Dr. Whitworth earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He then completed his general surgery residency at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Ga. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and a member of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. Dr. Whitworth has over 30 years of experience in general surgery. With a focus on minimizing pain and risk associated with surgery, he is adept at breast cancer, thyroid and parathyroid surgeries, as well as laparoscopic procedures involving the intestines, stomach and colon. Dr. Whitworth is highly skilled in diagnosing and treating breast cancer with stereotactic breast biopsy, sentinel node biopsy, lumpectomy and mastectomy. His other specialty areas include the gallbladder, appendix and hernias. Dr. Whitworth and his wife Kathy have five children and four grandchildren.
