Dr. Sean Griggs

Dr. Ky Kobayashi is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in conditions affecting the hand and upper extremities. He has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand and Sports Medicine. Dr. Kobayashi specializes in hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder surgery including microvascular surgery, arthroscopy, traumatic reconstruction, and joint replacement. Dr. Kobayashi is a distinguished graduate from the US Air Force Academy and the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Connecticut as well as a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Tufts Combined Hand Fellowship in Boston, MA. Dr. Kobayashi retired from the United States Air Force in 2014 with many decorations after several deployments to combat zones. He has extensive experience in combat casualty care and reconstruction. He has been staff and assistant program director for the Wilford Hall Air Force Orthopedic Residency Program in San Antonio, TX. He is actively involved in research & education and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Kobayashi was elected to serve on the Board of Specialties for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as well as the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons for education.  He has been the team physician for the Air Force Academy sports programs and is currently a consultant for the Olympic Training Center. His military service included roles as a flight surgeon and orthopedic surgeon, leadership positions at the U.S. Air Force Academy, and deployments to Tibet and Iraq. His honors include the Air Force Special Operations Command Flight Surgeon of the Year and USAFA Clinical Surgeon of the Year, along with multiple military decorations. Dr. Gregg Martyak is a distinguished graduate of the University of Virginia and Georgetown University. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Rothman Institute/Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He followed this with a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the Philadelphia Hand Center. Dr. Martyak served in the United States Air Force from 2008- 2012 achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He has extensive experience with combat casualty care with multiple deployments in Iraq and the Middle East. He was a clinical instructor for the combined US Air Force/ US Army combined orthopedic residency program at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD.
