Dr. Patrick S. Sullivan

Dr. Swetha Ramakrishnan is a board-certified colorectal surgeon who grew up in North Brunswick, New Jersey. She graduated with the highest distinction from a combined 7 year BS/MD program from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in life science and a minor in German language. She received her MD degree from Jefferson Medical College where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She then completed her general surgery residency at the Emory University School of Medicine, where she also completed a 2-year post-doctoral research fellowship in transplant immunology. She performs colonoscopy, laparoscopy, Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS), High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA), the Cleft Lift procedure for pilonidal disease, and sacral neuromodulation for the treatment of fecal incontinence. Dr. McCaffrey was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She received a BS in biology and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan. She has been a member of the Piedmont Atlanta Hospital staff since 2009 and Piedmont Henry Hospital since 2015. She is also the primary colon and rectal surgeon at The Shepherd Center, a world-renowned rehabilitation center for catastrophic spinal cord and brain injuries. She is board certified in colon and rectal surgery, as well as general surgery. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She was named one of Atlanta's Top Doctors by Atlanta Magazine in 2020, 2021, and 2022.Dr. McCaffrey performs treatment for a wide range of colorectal issues. One of her main interests is in robotic surgery for benign and malignant diseases of the colon and rectum. She also enjoys performing screening and diagnostic colonoscopies, as well as a variety of office-based and surgical procedures for anorectal issues.In her free time, Dr. McCaffrey enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling the world, experiencing new cultures, and collecting stamps in her passport.
