Overview
Dr. Szabo is board certified in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine. He completed his hematology-oncology training at Emory University Hospital and his internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals. He earned his medical degree at Cornell University Medical College.
Dr. Szabo has been practicing medicine for more than 20 years. Most recently, he was Chief of Staff at Emory St. Joseph Hospital. Prior to that, he was Chief of Staff at Emory Johns Creek Hospital and the Director of the Division of Community Oncology for the Department of Hematology Oncology at Emory Healthcare.
Dr. Szabo has special interests in breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and benign and malignant hematology. In his free time, Dr. Szabo enjoys promoting health education, hiking, sailing, and spending time with his family.

Cyril O. Spann, Jr., M.D., joins Piedmont from Emory Healthcare. He is board certified in Gynecologic Oncology and graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. Dr. Spann has over 30 years of experience in gynecology and gynecologic oncology. During his time at Emory, he served as Chief of the Gynecologic Oncology Service at both Emory Midtown and Grady Hospital. Dr. Spann is a member of the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a Diplomate for the American Board of Quality Assurance Utilization Review Physicians. Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Spann served as president of the Atlanta Medical Association and the Georgia OBGYN Society.Dr. Spann specializes in managing patients with cancer in the female reproductive tract. He has a surgical interest in robot/laparoscopic minimal invasive surgery.In his spare time, Dr. Spann enjoys hiking, bicycling, reading and travel.Dr. Spann welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
