John Boockvar, MD, is the vice chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Lenox Hill Hospital and director of the department's Brain Tumor Center, the Pituitary/Neuroendocrine Center, and the New York Head and Neck Institute at Lenox Hill and Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat hospitals. Dr. Boockvar is a professor of neurological surgery and otolaryngology/head and neck surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He is also an investigator at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, where he directs the Laboratory for Brain Tumor Biology and Therapy. Like his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather before him, Dr. Boockvar received an MD from SUNY Brooklyn-Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Boockvar did his surgical internship and neurosurgical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Boockvar did his NIH-supported post-doctoral research training in Neuro-oncology at the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center.
