Dr. Michael R. Canos
Overview
My interest in medicine began as a child. My father was a physician and my mother was a nurse, so I grew up having a working knowledge of medicine. When I went to college, I became an EMT and developed a true interest in medicine. I fell in love with endocrinology during my residency while working with a physician who became my mentor. I enjoyed every minute of endocrine clinic and caring for patients with diabetes. The best part about being an endocrinologist is the long-term relationships with patients. Since many conditions in endocrinology are chronic conditions, I get to know my patients very well and spend a lot of time teaching them about the benefits and side effects of the treatments that we pick. I find that the more that my patients know, the better they do. I have four children and enjoy playing soccer with them and being a soccer dad.
