Dr. Joel Kertznus received his medical degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. He trained as a Research Fellow in Hepatology at the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Montefiore Medical Center / Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He completed his Clinical Hepatology and Gastroenterology Fellowships at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Kertznus served as a faculty member at the University of Massachusetts and University of Miami / Miller School of Medicine and Miami Transplant Institute.
