Overview
Joel Isom, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician serving patients at CommunityMD in Atlanta and Newnan, Georgia. He is passionate about treating and caring for his patients.
Dr. Isom’s journey began with a desire to become a veterinarian. However, as he experienced how disease was affecting his family, he found his passion for improving the health and wellness of people. He graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed his residency and training in the Meharry Internal Medicine Program.
Dr. Isom embraces innovation in the practice of internal medicine. He values reaching the health and wellness goals of his patients. He pursues the process of identifying their needs and developing plans for patient wellness. Seeing his patients smile when together they have discovered what treatments have been most effective brings him a sense of satisfaction.
Dr. Isom is from Thomson, Georgia, and moved to Atlanta to be closer to his family. He loves spending time with his wife, Dr. Erica Isom, who is also an internist. They enjoy going on vacation with their three children. He also enjoys Fantasy Football and a good laugh with the 90s sitcom Martin.
