Overview
Dr. Aparasu is a board-certified internal medicine physician and also board-certified in integrative medicine by the American Board of Holistic and Integrative Medicine (ABHIM). For over 20 years, she has been providing comprehensive and compassionate medical care with a holistic approach for adult patients. Dr. Aparasu is dedicated to partnering with adults ages 18 and older, supporting them every step of the way, whether they need routine physicals, help managing chronic conditions, or advice on preventive care.Dr. Aparasu earned her Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Osmania Medical College, University of Health Sciences, AP, India, and completed her Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. She holds her American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certification and is a member of the American College of Physicians – American Society of Internal Medicine, as well as the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. Through her roles as Adjunct Clinical Faculty at Baylor College of Medicine and UT Medical Branch, Galveston, she actively engages in educating the next generation of medical professionals. She believes that a trusting physician–patient relationship, with a strong focus on patient education, is vital for providing high-quality care.Dr. Aparasu champions shared decision-making with her patients. She provides them with all possible treatment options, along with the pros and cons of each, allowing them to make informed choices that best suit their individual needs. Her clinical experience spans various settings, including her current role as Internist & Group Lead at Steward Medical Group, and prior positions as Medical Director at St. Joseph Hospital - Occupational Health, Senior Internist at Houston Internal and Integrative Medicine Clinic, and Primary Care Staff Physician at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Sioux Falls, SD. Her commitment to quality care extends to her past committee memberships, focusing on utilization, quality management, and peer review.Outside of her practice, Dr. Aparasu finds joy in listening to music, reading, and solving word puzzles. She also has a keen interest in Geriatric Medicine, Medicare Managed Care, and Women's Health, areas where she has contributed to publications concerning topics such as appropriate psychotropic agents for the elderly, hypertension management in diabetic patients, and drug-drug interactions.
