David Robinson, MD, specializes in neuroradiology, neurointerventional radiology, angiography, interventional radiology, treatment of stroke and TIA including intracranial and extracranial neurovascular angioplasty and stenting, treatment of aneurysms and vascular malformations.Dr. Robinson has been practicing at Virginia Mason Medical Center since 1998. Since that time, he has performed thousands of minimally invasive image guided procedures, spanning the entire gamut of the most current, state-of-the-art technologies. He has consistently led the way toward the future of minimally invasive image guided neurovascular interventions, being among the first physicians in Washington state and the nation to place nitinol stents for carotid artery stenosis (1998), perform intra-arterial therapy for emergent treatment of acute stroke (1998), intracranial aneurysm coiling (1998), lumbar drainage for subarachnoid hemorrhage (1999), intracranial angioplasty for atherosclerotic disease(1999), trans-venous approach for dural arterial venous fistula (2001), balloon assisted (2000) and stent assisted (2003) aneurysm coiling, neurovascular embolization with Onyx liquid Embolic agent (2004), and flow diversion stenting for intracranial aneurysms (2006). He has lectured extensively on minimally invasive neurovascular interventions including intra-arterial therapy for acute stroke and carotid artery stenting, having safely performed hundreds of these interventions over many years. Dr. Robinson's overarching objective in managing patients with neurovascular diseases is to guide the patient to the safest least invasive management option that will optimize the likelihood of maintaining (or restoring) full functional independence and a full life. This will often results in the decision not to perform surgery, or even a minimally invasive intervention, but instead to optimize medical management, if this is felt to pose the least risk for the patient. Dr. Robinson is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Intussusception in Children. His top areas of expertise are Intussusception in Children, Lung Cancer, Thyroid Nodule, Thrombectomy, and Liver Embolization.
