He has published over 250 medical and scientific papers, book chapters, monographs, and research abstracts. He has lectured widely in the United States on cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery topics. His clinical and research interests include cornea transplantation, cataract surgery, ocular drug development, laser refractive surgery, and ocular infections. A committed teacher and mentor, he has trained over 50 clinical cornea fellows first at the highly regarded AUPO certified corneal fellowship program at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and continuing with the current AUPO corneal fellowship program at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. Dr. Ritterband has received numerous awards including an Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been named multiple times to New York Magazine's Best Doctors, Castle Connolly's Top Doctors, and the NY Times Magazine's Super Doctors. In addition, while at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary he received 6 Resident Outstanding Teaching and Dedicated Service Awards.
