While there, he developed an orthopedic sports medicine practice and became an expert in arthroscopically treating orthopedic injuries and disorders as well as complex pediatric spine and limb deformities. Prior to that, he served for four years as the director of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Tis also served for 23 years in the active duty and reserve military including four wartime deployments where he treated high-energy war wounds and limb defects.
