Dr. Sunil Rana

Dr. Catherine Shu is the Price Family Associate Professor of Medicine and a board-certified medical oncologist specializing in the treatment of thoracic cancers, with a focus on lung cancer. She received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University, followed by her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. After residency at Columbia University Medical Center, Dr. Shu completed her fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she was appointed Chief Fellow. She currently serves as the Director of the Thoracic Medical Oncology Service. She has presented her work at numerous international conferences and has published in the top peer-reviewed oncology journals. She treats the entire spectrum of lung cancer, and has a particular interest in earlier stage and surgically resectable disease, specifically on drug combinations to help improve survival in this setting. Additionally, she runs the thoracic oncology clinical trial portfolio and devotes part of her research effort to patients with targetable mutations such as EGFR. Dr. Stoopler received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University in 1971 and his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1975. He completed his residency at North Shore University Hospital/Memorial Hospital and his oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City before joining the Columbia faculty in 1980. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, the International Society of Gastrointestinal Oncology, the American Federation for Clinical Research and the Southwest Oncology Group. Dr. Stoopler is involved in patient care, clinical research and teaching on the medical oncology service. Dr. Henick is a medical oncologist specializing in the care of patients with malignancies of the aerodigestive tract. As the Director of the HICCC Phase I Unit and Director of Translational Research in Aerodigestive Cancers in Medical Oncology, Dr. Henick’s clinical care and research are aligned to improve the effectiveness of, and limit side effects from, emerging cancer treatments. These efforts entail clinical trials that Dr. Henick has written and leads to study novel therapeutic approaches and to reduce steroid dependence among patients experiencing adverse events from immunotherapy.
