Dr. Shannon A. Tomita
Overview
Shannon Tomita, MD, is a fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologist with Atlantic Women’s Cancer Associates, specializing in cancers of the female reproductive system. She has comprehensive clinical experience with women of all ages and applies her knowledge and skills to detect, treat, and cure cancer in her patients. With an interest in advancing women’s health, Dr. Tomita is privileged to care for women with cancer and compassionate in her approach. She is proficient in minimally invasive procedures such as gynecologic robotic and laparoscopic surgery and was the recipient of the Resident’s Achievement Award for excellence in laparoscopic surgery by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. Out of the operating room, she is also skilled at administering chemotherapy as well as targeted and novel therapeutics in the treatment of gynecologic malignancies. In addition to her expertise in managing complex gynecologic cancers Dr. Tomita has collaborated on research into the early detection of gynecologic cancer, understanding the genetics of ovarian cancer, and the treatment of endometrial, ovarian, and other cancers of the female reproductive system. She is a member of the Society of Gynecological Oncology. After earning her degree from the State University of New York Downstate, Dr. Tomita completed her residency at Mount Sinai West/Mount Sinai St. Luke’s, in NYC. Following this, she spent two years in the Mount Sinai Ovarian Cancer Translational Research Lab in the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences, after which she pursued fellowship training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, a program at the forefront of providing the highest level of care and robust training in gynecologic oncology. Dr. Tomita is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.

Since 1999, Dr. Daniel Tobias has been a gynecologic oncologist at Atlantic Health System’s Women’s Cancer Center, diagnosing and treating conditions of the female reproductive system. He is dual board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology, and he is part of Atlantic Medical Group with privileges at both Morristown and Overlook medical centers. He is currently the director of gynecologic oncology for Atlantic Health System.Dr. Tobias attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine for an integrated six-year combined bachelors of arts and medical degree program. He performed his residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s Montefiore Medical Center and his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. During his fellowship, Dr. Tobias served as principal investigator of a study initiated by the New York Gynecologic Oncology Group. Keenly interested in research, Dr. Tobias continues to bring clinical trials and research to his patients.As part of an integrated care team, Dr. Tobias treats gynecologic malignancies using a combination of modalities and advanced technologies to spare healthy tissue. His medical career includes many honors, awards, presentations and authored works.Dr. Tobias is affiliated with and involved in several professional societies including the Society of Gynecology Oncologists and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has extensive experience with radical surgery, intraperitoneal chemotherapy and laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Tobias has performed robotic surgery since 2005, helped develop a comprehensive gynecologic oncology robotics program, and trains other physicians to perform robotics surgery. After graduating from Brown University in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and a minor in women’s health, Dr. Tchabo attended Brown University School of Medicine for her medical degree, where she was cited for academic excellence. Dr. Tchabo completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Georgetown University in 2004 and pursued additional research training at the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, and gynecologic oncology fellowship training at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY. Committed to cancer prevention and survivorship, Dr. Tchabo is a principal investigator on many of the gynecologic cancer clinical research trials available at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center. She also serves as associate residency director for Gynecology at Overlook Medical Center. Dr. Tchabo is an assistant clinical professor at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and is a former assistant clinical professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine’s department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science.
