Overview
Philosophy of care | I believe in focusing on prevention including health screenings, nutrition, and physical activity. My hope for my patients is that they feel as well as possible so that they can do the things that are most important to them. I enjoy seeing patients of all ages (from babies to seniors) and do several office-based procedures including skin biopsies, joint injections and Pap smears. I take care of a diverse population and believe that all patients deserve access to high quality healthcare, irrespective of their gender, race, ethnicity, religion, immigration status, gender identity or sexual orientation. | Why I entered medicine | I grew up with an older brother who was diagnosed with heart disease when he was 4, and I was inspired at an early age by his doctors’ care and compassion. I went into medicine to provide this same level of patient-centered care to others and strive to treat all of my patients as if they were family. Outside of my clinical practice, I am faculty in the Department of Family Medicine at LVHN and do research and teach medical students and residents. I am a better physician for all that I continue to learn through these activities and find great joy in both teaching the next generation of physicians and in conducting research aimed at identifying ways to improve health care. | Community involvement | I first lived in the Lehigh Valley during my college years at Lehigh University and was very excited to return to this vibrant community after completing medical school and residency. I’m an active member in the Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem and have served as a Sunday School teacher for the middle school class for the last few years. I also serve on the Health Advisory Committee at Bradbury Sullivan LGBT Community Center. | Personal interests | I enjoy running and can often be found outside in the early hours of the day, wearing a head lamp and covered in reflectors. I figure you can never be too safe! I’m an avid home cook and own approximately 50 cookbooks. I grew up in a family of farmers, and we still all come together a few times a year to prepare and preserve marinara sauce and pickles. Outside of those activities, I enjoy spending time at home with my husband and our pet turtle Frankie.
