I was raised in Southern California surfing Malibu Beach and skiing Tahoe. I enjoyed biology and physical sciences as a child, and graduated from UCLA with a BS in Biology. Before entering medical school, I worked as an emergency medicine technician. I’ve practiced pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine in Central Florida for over 20 years. I experience immense satisfaction from treating and interacting with children of all ages. Every time I can get a child to smile and make a child feel better, it gives me a special feeling in my heart. She's also an invited lecturer and presenter, has made multiple appearances on radio and TV, and is an active researcher and author of peer-reviewed medical journal articles. I believe children are precious, and are a very vulnerable population that needs to be protected. Caring for them is my way to add something positive to their lives. I’m passionate about improving my patients’ quality of life. I work to accomplish this by helping to control their conditions and symptoms, and ensuring that their parents understand their medical situations, and are knowledgeable and feel comfortable in providing home care. I try to make a difference by building a relationship with each patient and family. This is important so that they feel confident in the care I deliver and the recommendations I make — and so that we can work together as a team for their child's health. I grew up mostly in Florida and love this state. I went to the University of Florida for my undergraduate studies, graduating with highest honors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2002. I then went to Wake Forest University in North Carolina for both medical school (graduating in 2007) and residency (graduating in 2011). Since that time, I’ve been a pediatric hospitalist, initially working for the University of Oklahoma system before coming back home to Florida and to Nemours. I absolutely love the complexity and extreme diversity of inpatient pediatric medicine, and am especially sympathetic that kids don’t usually cause their own medical problems. It’s not their fault and I want to help them. As a mother of three young children, I feel very fulfilled and thankful every day for the opportunity to take care of children and their families. Most importantly, I am passionate about providing excellent patient care, teamwork and family-centered care. I’m also passionate about teaching and about pediatric medicine in general. Ever since I graduated from residency, I’ve been involved in the teaching of medicine. I enjoy the lifelong learning, the challenges of cases that are more difficult and the educational interaction with students/residents. I aim to inspire, challenge and encourage young learners to become successful educators and leaders in their respective fields, while truly enjoying what we do. I’m excited to be here at Nemours Children's Hospital and to be part of starting a residency program from the ground up with some truly amazing people. Nemours is definitely a unique and very impressive freestanding children’s hospital, and I feel privileged to be part of it. I love being a pediatrician. No parent or child wants to spend a night at the hospital. The hospital can be a scary experience for everyone involved: not knowing what to expect, being away from the familiar routines of home and school, and (on top of it all) worrying about illness and discomfort. During medical school, I was surprised by how much seeing a child in need energized me to take action. For those moments that I am with them, their world is my world. I am honored to be given the opportunity to work with children in this setting. My goal is to help mitigate fears and work with families and their child/children towards returning everyone to health and play. To get them back to being ballerinas, astronauts, firefighters and superheroes. I believe health for children is not only freedom from disease, but access to quality education, housing, nutrition, relationships and resources. To that goal, I have worked with the Virginia Department of Health, Richmond City Health Department, spoken at both the state and national government levels with House Representatives and Senators, served in the Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and was involved regionally in the southeast and nationally with leadership in the American Academy of Pediatrics — advocating for more equitable and evidence-driven care. By being a voice for children. By holding myself up to the highest standards so I can be the best pediatrician for your child and family. What is the definition of Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia?

Multiple epiphyseal dysplasia is a disorder of cartilage and bone development primarily affecting the ends of the long bones in the arms and legs (epiphyses). There are two types of multiple epiphyseal dysplasia, which can be distinguished by their pattern of inheritance. Both the dominant and recessive types have relatively mild signs and symptoms, including joint pain that most commonly affects the hips and knees, early-onset arthritis, and a waddling walk. Although some people with multiple epiphyseal dysplasia have mild short stature as adults, most are of normal height. The majority of individuals are diagnosed during childhood; however, some mild cases may not be diagnosed until adulthood.

When should I see a Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor near Orlando, FL?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

    • Your primary care provider recommends it.
    • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
    • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
    • You need specialized testing or procedures.
    • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor near Orlando, FL?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctors near Orlando, FL?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctors near Orlando, FL?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor near Orlando, FL?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor near Orlando, FL?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

    • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
    • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
    • Family history of disease
    • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
    • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
    • List of questions and concerns
    • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor?

    Here are some sample questions:

    • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
    • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
    • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
    • Are there other specialists I need to see?
    • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctors near Orlando, FL?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Multiple Epiphyseal Dysplasia doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
