As a pediatric otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon, I provide kids and their families a unique perspective and understanding of the natural clinical history of medical problems that may arise. I am passionate and dedicated to helping kids with both routine and complex head and neck problems, including performing cochlear implant surgery, and value the natural collaborative nature of taking care of children and their families. I found myself fascinated by otolaryngology early in my medical school training because of the wide variety of patients and procedures we get to manage. I play the piano, and I still take lessons weekly. I started piano with my daughter when she was four and both my children are in musical fields now. I also make jewelry, enjoy learning languages, such as Spanish and Russian, reading, traveling, and practicing photography with my husband. I have been a Professor of Plastic Surgery at Duke University and the University of Heidelberg, Germany since 2003. I am part-time affiliated with the Durham VA Medical Center, Section of Plastic Surgery serving our veterans and their families. I enjoy working in an academic environment and being able to cover a variety of plastic surgery cases. My passion is to provide body contouring procedures for patients who have experienced significant weight loss, such as after gastric bypass surgery.
