Overview
Dr. Maher completed her medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine at which time she developed an interest in patient advocacy while volunteering with an organization that served displaced young adults. Dr. Maher then completed her residency in internal medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where she served on the Ethics Committee during her third year. She began practicing medicine as a hospitalist at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
She then worked as a primary care physician with a large medical group in Washington, DC before making the decision to pursue a fellowship in rheumatology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. During both years of her rheumatology fellowship, Dr. Maher was awarded first place for her poster presentations at the hospital’s Department of Medicine Research Day. She also helped lead a project to improve the treatment of osteoporosis at the Washington, DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center and co-designed a patient advocacy training program to help physicians identify shortcomings and improve patient medical care environments.
Dr. Maher treats all types of rheumatic conditions and has a special interest in rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, osteoporosis, and gout. Dr. Maher is board certified in internal medicine and she is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. DiIorio serves as Co-Director of the Osteoporosis Assessment Center, a division of Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates, P.C. She is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, a member of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Medical Advisory Board of the Lupus Foundation. Dr. DiIorio received her B.A. from New York University, New York, NY in 1983 where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a Magnum Cum Laude graduate. She earned her Doctorate of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, a medical honor society. Her Internship and Residency were served at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York, NY, and her Fellowship training in Rheumatic Diseases was completed at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. A native Washingtonian, Dr. Wolfe graduated Cum Laude from Amherst College, Amherst, MA where he received his BA in 1990 with a major in Religion. While there, he played varsity football and completed a senior thesis on Navajo Religious Medicine. In 1995 he received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, DC. In 1999 he completed a residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Tufts University’s Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA. While at Baystate, he was honored with the House Staff/Fellow Citation for Excellence in Teaching Award, given by the Tufts University School of Medicine, Class of 1998.From 1999 – 2002, Dr. Wolfe was employed by the Chinle Hospital of the Navajo Area Indian Health Service. During that time, he served as a staff physician, Medical Director of the Outpatient Department, and as Project Manager for an Outpatient Redesign and Expansion project. In 2002, he received the Superior Administrative Service Award.In 2004, just prior to joining Arthritis and Rheumatism Associates, P.C., Dr. Wolfe completed a Fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA. From 2006-2023 Dr. Wolfe served as a volunteer rheumatologist at Mobile Med, Inc., a non-profit organization providing healthcare to the uninsured in Montgomery County, MD.
