She was selected amongst her peers to direct advance to General Surgery Residency, which she completed in 2016. She then completed advanced specialty training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, gaining expertise in hepatopancreatobiliary surgery and complex surgical oncology. After completing the Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship, Dr. Gage returned to Walter Reed and was quickly promoted as Division Chief of Surgical Oncology. As of August 1, 2024, Dr. Gage has also joined Johns Hopkins Medicine as an Instructor of Surgery while maintaining an active clinical practice with both institutions. She is an active member of numerous initiatives and committees, such as the IPASS committee and the IRB committee. Dr. Gage is also a leader in the DC area, serving as an executive member of the Association of Women Surgeons and American College of Surgeons DC Chapters.
