Duke Neurological Disorders Clinic - Clinic 1L
I am a specialist in neuromuscular medicine. I diagnose and treat people with neuromuscular diseases, such as ALS, neuropathy, myopathy, and myasthenia gravis. I always want to make an accurate diagnosis and provide effective treatment. However, treating every person with humanity is equally important to me. I believe in listening carefully to people as they describe their symptoms and as they express concerns they may have. Listening and treating people with respect is key to the doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Li is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in the treatment of Pseudobulbar Affect. Her top areas of expertise are Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Spinal and Bulbar Muscular Atrophy, and Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 3.
Duke Neurological Disorders Clinic - Clinic 1L
I am the division chief for Stroke and Vascular Neurology in the Department of Neurology at Duke Health. I see stroke patient in the emergency department, inpatient service as well as in the outpatient clinic. I also treated post-stroke limb spasticity, a disabling complication after stroke. In addition to the patient care, I also run a brain modulation and stroke recovery lab at the Duke University campus to study stroke patients in my lab to develop new stroke recovery therapy. On my days off, my boys and I are big on fishing. I enjoy drinking and collecting tea. As a stroke doctor, I do not drink coffee at all (there is a reason for it). If you come to see, I will tell you. Dr. Feng is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in the treatment of Pseudobulbar Affect. His top areas of expertise are Stroke, Spasticity, Hemiplegia, Thrombectomy, and Stent Placement.
Duke Neurology Morreene Road
I see patients with memory disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. In almost every encounter, I feel like I see two patients: the person with the disease and the person taking care of the person with the disease. The caregiver often needs as much attention as the patient because they are under a lot of stress, so I offer helpful tips, advice, encouragement, and resources. These diseases don’t have cures, so I spend a lot of time talking with caregivers, diagnosing the disease, and helping families cope. There are some medicines we use for these diseases, but their effect is fairly limited, so we also try to treat side effects, such as depression or behavioral problems. It’s a partnership between the doctor, the patient, and the family trying to keep the patient as safe, happy, and healthy as possible. I am also involved in research projects and enjoy both seeing patients and studying their diseases in the lab. Dr. O'brien is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Pseudobulbar Affect. His top areas of expertise are Cerebellar Degeneration, Alzheimer's Disease, Lewy Body Dementia (LBD), and Dementia.
